Now on to other news…what’s been happening? In the quieter wool months I take advantage of the extra time I have and I have been lucky enough to do some extra teaching at my local college. This finished in June at the end of the academic year. I was covering some sick leave and was teaching machine knitting to 1st and 2nd year BA textile students. I had to brush up a bit on my knitting techniques, but so thoroughly enjoyed the time a spent at college. I took voluntary redundancy from there in 2015 but it’s always a pleasure to revisit and work with my old colleagues and friends. For three months I also worked two days a week at our local gallery Canfas. Working on curating an exhibition called AUR. You may have heard about the National Eisteddfod (if you’re Welsh you’ll definitely know about it). Well it came to a very large site just outside Cardigan this year and it was absolutely fabulous. The exhibition was a collaboration with Craft Festival owner Sarah James, Canfas and the Eisteddfod. We brought together past gold medal winners of *Y Lle Celf. Both fine artists and craft winners were represented and it culminated in the Private view which took place on 31st of August. Attended by over 120 people it was a fabulous event. If you are in the area or coming to Craft Festival, the exhibition is on until 16th September *”Y Lle Celf (meaning "The Art Place") is the prestigious national visual arts gallery featured for one week each year at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Widely regarded as Europe's largest temporary art exhibition, it showcases a mix of works by established and emerging Welsh artists spanning fine art, craft, design, and architecture. From this exhibition a Gold medal winner is chosen from the Fine Art, craft and architecture categories”.
