Melin Tregwynt 'patchwork' day with Suzi Saturday 12th July
Saturday 12th July
Melin Tregwynt off cut patchwork day
10 am to 4 pm (an hour for lunch - if needed).
In this workshop you will be working with Suzi to use Melin Tregwynt waste ‘off cuts’ which we will cut into strips and shapes to be will be assembled with a sewing machine to make a unique wool fabric.
These fabrics can then later be made into cushion covers or bags.
This days course would suit anyone who is confident using a sewing machine ie can thread up, understands bobbin winding, tension and zigzag stitch.
A note from Suzi:
“ I love Melin Tregwynt and have a few of their blankets in my collection at home. They have used Cambrian Wool weaving yarn for a one off blanket that they produced called Bringaer.
With offcuts produced from production ‘waste’ we will piece together different sections of blanket fabric to produce our own unique fabrics. These fabrics can then be made into cushion covers for example, or for the the front of a tote bag.
Teas and coffees will be provided during the day.
We will break for lunch and you are invited to visit one of the lovely shops in Newcastle Emlyn (Crwst is just up the road)… OR obviously you can bring your own lunch if you prefer.
What will we be doing?
You will be provided with samples of a few different offcuts of Melin Tregwynt fabric. The idea is that you use a ‘miss mash’ of fabrics (in colour and design) and make your own style of fabric by patching them together.
That’s it really! Just have some fun with some fabric and sewing machines and create something unique.
The price is £40 for the days tuition. The price includes a ‘pack’ of offcuts to use on the day, but there will be the opportunity for you to buy more on the day if you wish.
You can bring your own machine or opt on here to bring your own.
Where is our workshop taking place?
We will be in the upstairs workshop at the wonderful Welsh Wool Shop in Newcastle Emlyn
