Our Makers
Our makers live and work in Wales
Suzi Horan - Jeweller
Inspired by fossils, waves and the quiet power of natural geometry my work blends contemporary design with a profound sense of place.
The rippling of silver and gold that defines my signature style began in 2006. Each piece is designed to catch the light from every angle whilst echoing the shapes and hues of the coastline.
Laura Thomas - Handweaver
Laura Thomas is an award-winning woven textile artist and designer specializing in producing striking textile artworks for contemporary spaces.
Laura’s breadth of practice and multi-faceted approach make her somewhat unusual in the woven textiles sphere. Whether it be site-specific art, exhibition work or interior textile design, underpinning all of Laura’s work is an inherent practical curiosity to exploit weave principles, celebrate the beauty of yarns and create striking aesthetics for this ancient craft.
Llio James - Handweaver
Llio works from her studio in Cardiff, using a traditional dobby loom. Designing cloth in the studio and produced at local mills in Wales and England. She also creates unique commission pieces which are hand woven. Her inspiration comes from the feeling of belonging to country and culture and this is strongly expressed in her work. As an experienced and creative hand weaver Llio is able to adapt the work as it evolves to build a contemporary cloth with the aim of creating bespoke cloth to be handled, to be used and to be loved generation after generation.

Cathryn Gwynn - Textile Artist
'Text, texture and textile: three words which reflect my practice as a mixed-media artist. I’m drawn to thread, pen, ink and paper and work somewhere on the cusp of these materials.
My hand-woven, delicate textiles are often a response in colour and line to resonant lines of text.
I enjoy working in book form, where ink and thread combine, and lettering can resemble woven texture. The fragile pages of old books, forgotten words, evocative places, delicate objects which suggest a story – these are things which inspire me.’ – Cathryn Gwynn
